Other Services

Behavioral Medicine

During clinic hours we provide behavioral medicine services to help our patients manage the stress in their lives.  We teach simple breathing and visualization techniques that are helpful in dealing with the stressful situations we all face each and every day.

We do not provide mental health services.

Dental Referral Service

For acute problems such as infected or painful teeth, we have a volunteer dentist who has agreed to accept some patient referrals from our clinic. To access this service, patients must be evaluated at the Saturday clinic. Saturday dental service is not available but patients can often be seen for these services on Monday or Tuesday of the following week.

For routine dental preventive care such as x-rays and cleaning of teeth, we recommend Chabot Dental Hygienist College where these services are done at a reduced fee.

Diabetes Home Health Education

For our patients with Diabetes, we have 2 health educators who visit the home and help educate the entire family. These educators teach simple changes a family can make in diet and exercise that will help control or prevent diabetes. These educators work with the entire family so that everyone can work together. Since diabetes is a genetic condition, this education can also help prevent diabetes in other family members. Studies have shown that, in most cases, a healthy lifestyle which includes adequate exercise and proper diet will prevent diabetes.

Surgical Referral Service

Patients who need minor surgical treatment such as hernia repair, cataract surgery, or cyst removals are referred to Operation Access, an organization that provides free outpatient surgical and specialty care to uninsured and underinsured patients.  We also use this service to obtain annual retinal scans for our diabetic patients.
